The long-planned redevelopment of the Ballston Mall will go before the Arlington County Board next week.
Owner Forest City will redevelop the three-story mall and the three floors of office space above the Macy’s store, while the Macy’s Home Furniture store at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and North Randolph Street (map) will be demolished. A new 22-story, 406-unit building with approximately 66,500 square feet of retail and 282 below-grade parking spaces will be built as part of the new project.

While portions of the existing mall will be razed, most of the space will be rebuilt. ARLnow reported in April that many stores in the mall are likely to close by the end of the year.
The project, which is dubbed Ballston Center, is designed by CallisonRTKL and the architect of record is Cooper Carry.
