Amazon announced plans last month for its first buildings in Northern Virginia -- two 22-story mixed-use office towers at the Metropolitan Park site in the 1400 block of S. Eads Street (map). Now, Arlington County is taking the project to the community.
The County is holding an introductory community meeting on July 10th to give the public more information about the proposed development and explain how it will be reviewed. While details about the location of the meeting are still up in the air, representatives from the applicant and from various County departments are expected to be at the meeting to answer questions. The Planning Commission committee will begin reviewing the site plan on July 15th.

As proposed, the buildings would have over two million square feet for office use, over 67,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space (including on-site childcare facilities), and 1,968 spaces of below-grade parking, along with 200 spaces of bike storage. ZGF Architects is the designer.
Amazon is the contract purchaser of the site, currently owned by JBG Smith. This site was previously approved for a 22-story mixed-use development with 577 apartments atop 9,665 square feet of retail before JBG Smith absorbed Vornado's Virginia portfolio.
