AOL Launches Site For Renters

Internet powerhouse AOL today launched RentedSpaces, a website that offers a blend of apartment listings and blog posts about renting. The site has a colorful yet simple look that lets you peruse the listings quickly to find apartments that suit your taste (and your wallet).
Clicking on a listing that you like brings up a brief description of the property with a link to view the full listing at the site where it was originally posted. All of the listings are pulled from third-party sites, which makes RentedSpaces an apartment listings “aggregator” — techspeak for a site that pulls information from lots of different sources.
A quick search found over 4,300 listed apartments in DC, 3,200 in Arlington, and 1,500 in Silver Spring, so the site is fully stocked with apartment listings.
The blog component of the site will publish content of interest to renters like “Tips For Renting With Pets” and “What Happens if Your Landlord is Foreclosed On?” According to AOL’s Kara Reinsel, there will be one post per day to start, then the frequency will increase as traffic to the site grows.
“We really see renting as a lifestyle and wanted to create a site that addresses the unique needs of renters and offers a new perspective,” Reinsel told UrbanTurf.
