Amazon Grocery in Friendship Heights Confirmed

A little over a year ago, UrbanTurf reported that an Amazon grocery story was expected to replace the now-closed Giant store in Friendship Heights. Now, that news is all but confirmed.

Amazon has begun advertising jobs for its "first grocery store in Chevy Chase Village." This is the closest the public has gotten to an announcement from the company that one of their grocery outposts is destined for The Collection at Chevy Chase, off Wisconsin and Western Avenues (map).
That development has a covenant requiring owner Chevy Chase Land Company maintain an on-site grocery store.
