Airbnb is getting back to its roots.
The popular online marketplace for vacation rentals launched Airbnb Rooms on Wednesday. The new category, which highlights individual rooms in a host's home, is meant to offer more transparency and affordability to Airbnb users.

In addition to highlighting rooms, the new offering will give more biographical information about hosts, and allow listings to be sorted based on whether bedroom doors lock and if the bathroom is private or shared.
"Guests have told us that they want to know more about who they’re staying with," Airbnb said in a release. "Every Airbnb Room features a Host Passport, which helps guests get to know their Host before booking their stay."
On Rooms, Airbnb will also show the total price for the stay in the search results and provide more transparent checkout instructions.
