While many jurisdictions continue debating how to regulate home-sharing online platforms like Airbnb, Airbnb is taking steps to regulate itself.
Last week, the company announced its Plus service, which would feature verified listings that have been inspected in-person and judged on over 100 criteria. Upon roll-out of the tier, over 2,000 listings had the Plus stamp, in Austin, LA, Chicago and San Francisco stateside as well as in Toronto, Cape Town, London, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Shanghai, Melbourne and Sydney.

Listings that carry the Plus designation are expected to have highly-rated hosts, comfortable furnishings, easy check-in and a wide set of amenities for guest comfort, among other things. Airbnb Plus also has a separate customer support team.
Airbnb is also releasing a Beyond service that culls luxury listings together for guests who are looking for a more holistic hospitality experience. As reported by Tech Crunch, these new offerings are part of Airbnb's efforts to further segment their website to tailor experiences to users, including searching homes classified as vacation homes and bed and breakfasts.
