Located a short walk from Adams Morgan’s main drag, this Lanier Heights rowhouse sold this week for $351,000 above its original asking price. Although unassuming from the outside, plenty of charming architectural details can be found throughout the five-bedroom house, notably the custom wood paneling and built-ins on the first floor and restored wood staircase. There is also plenty of outdoor space courtesy of a bi-level patio and a balcony unique to one of the bedrooms on the third floor. It’s no wonder that the house went off the market within a week of being listed, and incited a bidding war as well.

$50,000 Above Asking for Capitol Hill Rowhouse with Hotel History

On the opposite side of the city, a much more predictable premium was attached to the sale of this Victorian rowhouse on Capitol Hill. Originally built in 1892, the house was restored in 1965 and includes ornate ironwork on its exterior stair and balcony, salvaged from the Raleigh Hotel, a Beaux-Arts building downtown designed by architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh and demolished in the early 1960s. In addition, the basement is a valid one bedroom rental with certificate of occupancy.
