In this week's Above Asking, we take a look at the final sales prices for two homes in northwest DC that proved there is still a lot of competition out there despite rising interest rates.
A $140,000 Premium for a Cleveland Park Tudor
This semi-detached listing in Cleveland Park received multiple offers and ultimately sold for $140,000 above the original listing price. The living room has a white-painted brick fireplace, and built-in shelving units flank the archway into the dining room. The top floor offers a carpeted family room/office and leads out to a "sky porch" with cove-style glass canopy. The lower level has a separate entrance and offers a rec room, bedroom, full bath, kitchenette and office area. The competition was likely high for this five-bedroom home in Chevy Chase, which ultimately sold for $350,000 above the original asking price. A white picket fence and a covered front porch lead in to a living room with a gas fireplace between windows above built-in shelving units. The kitchen has a marble-topped breakfast bar island with matching countertops and matching backsplash between the stainless steel hood and the stove. The adjacent family room also has a gas fireplace, and in between, a door leads out to the deck. The lower level has a step down rec room, ample flex space, a wine cellar, and walks out to a covered patio and parking pad; there is also an interior garage/storage room.
