Ikea has long been seen as a savior for those looking to furnish their house on the cheap. Now, the Swedish company is offering a whole house on the cheap.
With Oregon-based architectural firm Ideabox, Ikea is launching aktiv, a line of prefabricated, one-bedroom homes that will be outfitted with Ikea furnishings. The home has energy-efficient features, including a dual-flush toilet and Energy Star electronics, and the exterior is made up of fiber-cement siding, corrugated metal, and a metal roof.
Just like you are in Ikea.
More from Ideabox:
Working with IKEA designers, we designed aktiv around IKEA systems. In the kitchen, IKEA offers a lot of flexibility in kitchen cabinets. We designed the layout, and our clients can select the colors. IKEA appliances offer state-of-the-art cooking, so we included an induction cooktop and convection oven. A counter depth refrigerator keeps food fresh, and cabinet faced dishwashers provide seamless functionality. The bath features a “huge” two sink vanity and four drawers along with a storage cabinet. The bedroom features the amazingly functional IKEA built-in series of closet systems… assembled & installed, just awaiting your stuff!
The 745 square-foot homes start at just $86,500, and are designed with the Pacific Northwest homeowner in mind. To learn more about how to acquire one of these homes, click here.
