Big residential plans are on the boards for one of Georgetown's most recognizable blocks.
As Georgetown institution W. T. Weaver and Sons celebrates its 130th year in business, the company is exploring development plans on its Prospect Street parking lot.
Dubbed Weaver's Row, W. T. Weaver and Sons and developer McCaffery Interests are seeking conceptual design review to deliver a five-story plus-penthouse mixed-use project at 3220 Prospect Street NW (map). The development would deliver 45 one to two bedroom rental units above 4,500 square feet of commercial space. UrbanTurf first reported about the project back in May.

Fronting Prospect Street, the ground floor retail could include a restaurant and/or a sister location of the Weaver Hardware store, UrbanTurf has learned. Apartment amenities will include a lounge, gym and roof deck and lounge with bar and grill. The project would also have a below-grade parking level with 32 vehicular and 18 bicycle spaces. Hickok Cole Architects is the designer.
The Old Georgetown Board is expected to consider the concept at next month's meeting; the development team is conferring with the Advisory Neighborhood Commission, Citizen's Association of Georgetown and other neighborhood stakeholders in the meantime.
