3 in 4 Home Sellers Planning to List After Stay-At-Home Orders Lifted

When stay-at-home orders are lifted around the country, prospective home sellers are ready to move, per a new report.
77 percent of home sellers are preparing to list their homes for sale at the end of stay-at-home orders, according to a new report out today from the National Association of Realtors.
“After a pause, home sellers are gearing up to list their properties with the reopening of the economy,” said NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. “Plenty of buyers also appear ready to take advantage of record-low mortgage rates and the stability that comes with these locked-in monthly payments into future years.”

There hasn't been that stark a difference between new listing activity in Washington, DC over the last month compared to the same time last year. As the chart above illustrates, outside of a spike of listings in the third week of April in 2019 (blue line), the new listing activity this year (orange line) is largely tracking with that from last spring.
