Add another, albeit smaller, residential development to those in the works along Langston Boulevard.
Plans have been filed with Arlington County for a new 29-unit apartment building at 2221 North Buchanan Street (map). Unlike other new developments being pitched in the area, this project will have average unit sizes in excess of 1000 ft.² in order to cater to families.
"The Property is located along Langston Boulevard, benefiting from its proximity to public transportation, retail and community services," the application stated. "The Project will significantly enhance the pedestrian experience along Buchanan Street through the installation of wider sidewalks, street trees and pedestrian-scale lighting, improving the walkability and aesthetic appeal of the area."
The new project, designed by Rust | Orling Architecture, joins a group of new developments in the Langston Boulevard pipeline. Rooney Properties is working on a 12-story, 296-unit building at 3130 Langston Boulevard (map), a site that is currently home to a Walgreens pharmacy. And Taicoon Property Partners has partnered with a high-end hotel chain on a new development at 1501 Langston Boulevard (map) that will include 94 luxury condominiums.
