Fessenden House
DC’s most expensive home on the market went under contract late last week, UrbanTurf has learned.

Listed by Nancy Itteliag of Long and Foster Real Estate and its affiliate Christie’s, the palatial seven-bedroom home at 3107 Fessenden Street NW (map) was owned by Samuel Lehrman, whose family co-founded Giant supermarket. Lehrman acquired the three adjacent lots that the home sits on in the early 1990s and built the sprawling estate on the acre of purchased land.

The formal home was modeled after 18th century English and Scottish architecture. In addition to grand rooms for entertaining, the home has a pool, a poolhouse, a wine cellar and tasting room, as well as private quarters for staff.
