The speed limit for many DC roads will soon drop.
Mayor Bowser announced today that the speed limit for many local roads will drop from 25 miles per hour to 20 miles per hour at the beginning of June. The move, to make streets safer for pedestrians, will likely be permanent starting on June 1.
Additionally, “local traffic only” streets will have their speed limits reduced to 15 miles per hour, with restricted vehicle access.
