All is no longer quiet in the Adams Morgan development pipeline.
EastBanc and Mitsui Fudosan broke ground on a 10-story development behind the Scottish Rite Center at 1630 Columbia Road NW (map). Christened The Silva, the project will deliver 172 apartments, a new connection to the Center, and 75-80 parking spaces across two below-grade parking levels. Grimshaw Architects is the architect.

Amenities will include a rooftop infinity pool, a courtyard with grills and fire pits, dining rooms and a fitness center. The project is anticipated to deliver in 2021.
The Silva is breaking ground at an interesting time, as a recently-approved Scottish Rite-related development just down the street is expected to be appealed, and another mixed-use multifamily development two blocks further down Columbia Road in Adams Morgan remains in contention over two years after it was first appealed.
